- To create a VSA, each host to be added to the cluster needs at least four NIC (ports), some direct attached storage, and cannot be running any VM’s at the time of addition
- VSA is automaticallydeployed to each host, VMware HA and vMotion is configured, datastores are formatted
- If a VSA or whole host in the cluster fails, another host/VSA hosting a replica of the downed host’s datastores immediately begins presenting that storage meaning no downtime in an N-1 scenario
- When the failed (or in maintenance mode) host is brought back online, the storage presentation flips back to the primary VSA/host automatically.
